What can you do to change the world?

If this sounds like a bold question, we assure you: regardless of your resources, you can make a difference. It starts by making the right connections. Individuals, families, businesses, and other organizations connect with the East Bay Community Foundation for help making gifts and grants right here in the East Bay—social investments that often address nationwide needs but are acted on locally. Donors connect with us to achieve results and impact beyond the East Bay.

Our Impact

Early Childhood Success

EBCF invests in programs for children from birth to age 8 to break the “start behind, stay behind” cycle. Our Community Partners and other grantees support positive parenting. They operate quality preschools. They support struggling readers to catch up to their peers. Together we advocate for policies and resources to improve early childhood education programs.

Ready Learners

Seventy-eight percent of 4-year-olds served by Kidango centers ended the school year in the top two developmental levels on key school-readiness measures.

Economic Opportunity

We support programs that help people with employment barriers start and stay on a path toward economic self-sufficiency. Our Community Partners and other grantees provide skills training and job placement in high-demand industries. They also offer training and long-term follow-up services to help their graduates succeed and advance in the workplace.

Strong Starts

Our Community Partners strive to place graduates in jobs with wages that promote self-sufficiency.

More Than Money

Every day we engage with grantees, donors, community leaders, elected officials, and others around critical community concerns. Beyond the walls of our building, we are out in the community, connecting with leaders throughout our region on topics ranging from planned giving for nonprofits to confronting suburban poverty.

At The Center

Our James Irvine Foundation Conference Center is a hub of activity for the community, hosting meetings, trainings, retreats, and celebrations.
